Participate in Research

Participants play a crucial role in health research, contributing to the significant discoveries that arise from such studies. Without their involvement, this research would be impossible!

IALH Database

Are you interested in being a participant in aging and lifelong health related research? The Institute of Aging and Lifelong Health has created an electronic database of individuals 19 years and older who wish to be contacted by researchers about participating in their studies.

All studies on this database have been approved by a research ethics board at the University of Victoria. Participation is always voluntary and you can opt to have your information removed from the database at any time.

Learn more about the kinds of studies recruiting through this platform here! To become part of the database, you can fill out this online form. You can also call 250-721-6369 or email IALH at IALH@uvic.ca to find out more about becoming a research study participant.

ReachBC

ReachBC is a platform dedicated to connecting individuals interested in participating with studies spanning over 200 health research categories. The platform carefully matches individuals with studies, considering their backgrounds and interests to ensure meaningful and personalized participation. To learn more, click here.

This video outlines ReachBC participation eligibility and benefits. Open to all BC residents, benefits include potential access to new therapies and contributing to research for the greater good.

This video introduces the concept of a patient partner—someone with lived experience of a health condition. It highlights their crucial role in research, emphasizing how participation offers the chance to share insights and contribute to the research design.

This video explains how ReachBC helps researchers, enabling them to instantly connect with participants and providing an avenue for disseminating results.

In this video participants and researchers share their experiences with ReachBC and explain the value of participating in research.
